There is some confusion about what Mr Molloy has said and what has been said by Dept of Finance representatives regarding his entitlement. Was Mr Molloy entitled to travel first class....1. under FAS rules, 2. under normal public sector rules?
If he was entitled under FAS rules it would be nice to see the wording of the actual in house rules and if it includes substituting first class for 2 business class tickets.
Then who actually approved the rule. If it was approved by himself and A N Other (the chairman?) alone then they could be accused of an "abuse de droit" and therefore guilty of gross misconduct which would have prevented them from getting the rather large payoffs in line with "public sector norms".
On the other hand if the rules were approved by the Board then we should get the Board minute that approved them and see who was at the meeting.
The job is only half done but the media have lost interest. If you follow through along these lines then there is a chance of enforcing accountability on the union reps on the board as well as the civil servants, ibec members and other jokers who turned a blind eye for years to the abuses. lazy so and so's. Please don't stop now that it is getting interesting.

Fas and Siptu are due in the labour court tomorrow to debate whether or not Fas can let go 50 contract workers. The contractors were given 2 year fixed term conracts but Fas have terminated these contracts withiut any offer of redundancy. The majority of these emplyees are young people with families and mortgages. There are instructors employed within the organisation that are looking after apprenticeship classes who actually arent tradesmen in the fields that they are instructing in. Fas have simply redeployed these individuals, some of which are within 2 years of retirement, and cut the jobs of the contract workers. I am one of these workers and it is really annoying knowing that there are apprentice plumbers being taught by fitters and welders and without any regard for the quality of instruction that apprentices are receiving. How hard would it be for redundancy packages to be offered to these older employees and let younger instructors teach their relevant fields. This is only one imperfection within the organisation that I feel that I just have to voice.
